Yes, we can heal this nation

Obama won more votes than anyone else in U.S. history, the biggest Democratic victory since Lyndon Johnson crushed another Arizona Senator 44 years ago. Obama won men, which no Democrat had managed since Bill Clinton. He won 54% of Catholics, 66% of Latinos, 68% of new voters — a multicultural, multigenerational movement that shatters the old political ice pack. He let loose a deep blue wave that washed well past the coasts and the college towns, into the South through Virginia and Florida, the Mountain West with Colorado and New Mexico, into the Ohio Valley and the Midwestern battlegrounds: you could almost walk from Maine to Minnesota without getting your feet wet in a red state. After months of mapmaking all the roads to 270, Obama tore right past with ease.

Europe is proud of Obama's massive victory, the same way all US citizens should be. This victory comes right in the moment when it was needed the most. It comes when the world was asking for a leader to guide us through this turmoil created by a financial crisis, a moral decline and a hopeless scenario. What's the most important point in Obama's victory? From my point of view, the elected US president has given hope and voice to talented people who were deeply dissapointed about the way their country were "leading" the world.

This massive victory has turned the US into purple. Some traditional red states were persuaded by Obama's message and, after November 4th, a lot of republicans feel confident about their new president. Traditional US claim, "United we stand", is recovering the meaning lost throughout Bush administration. The entire world should see Obama's victory as the beginning of a new era in international relations. In addition, we all have to keep in mind the extra-strenght Clinton's experience and knowledge will give him in social and international affairs.

I feel we all drive now in the same direction, and Obama has reached White House when we need him the most. Yes, we can!
